On November 19, 2009, five former Boeing Satellite Division employees -- Thornton Stone, Hutan Taghavi, John White, Rudolph Swigart and Steven Barton -- filed this lawsuit. The best way to understand the case is to read the Complaint. The Complaint claims that Boeing violated California's Fair Employment and Housing Act by its policies, practices and patterns of decisions related to the termination of employees in the series of RIF's conducted during 2008 and 2009. The Complaint also alleges that while Boeing was ridding itself of older employees in the RIF's, it was hiring a large number of recent college graduates in an effort to slash the age of its workforce. Plaintiffs anticipate that the class, if approved, will contain over 400 former Satellite Division employees.
